A 10-year-old boy who survived the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday told CNN that he lost “almost all” his friends during the attack.
Jayden Perez told the network that him and his friends hid under a table with backpacks but that did not stop one of his friends from getting hurt.
He said the shooter “shot through the window” hitting his teacher in her side and one of his friends “got shot through the nose.” Perez said a police officer helped him and his classmates escaped through a window, but he had already lost most of his friends.
He then began listing the names of his friends who were murdered in the attack.
“McKenna, Tess, Annabell,” Jayden said. “Basically almost all of them.”
“I’m still sad about some of my friends that died,” he said. “You never know whenever you’re gonna lose someone close to you.”
Jayden told the network that he does not want to go back to school because he fears that another shooting might occur.
“I don’t want to because I don’t want anything to do with another shooting and me in the school,” he said. “I know it might happen again, probably.”
