117-year-old woman beat COVID days before her birthday.

French nun Sister Andre, beat COVID and just in time to celebrate her 117th birthday this week.

Sister Andre was placed in isolation after she tested positive for coronavirus in her retirement home in Toulon, southern France, on Jan. 16.

“We consider her to be cured. She is very calm and she is looking forward to celebrating her 117th birthday on Thursday,” David Tavella, spokesman for the Sainte Catherine Labouré retirement home said according to Reuters.



Sister Andre who is blind told a French TV station that she “wasn’t scared to die. I’m happy to be with you, but I would wish to be somewhere else – join my big brother and my grandfather and my grandmother.”

She will celebrate her 117th birthday on February 11, making her the world’s second oldest living person.
