Seven people were killed in two mass shootings in Half Moon Bay California on Monday.
San Mateo County Sheriff’s office said four people were killed at a mushroom farm and three others were killed at a trucking business. One victim was transported to Stanford Medical Center for treatment, the Associated Press reports.
A suspect was taken into custody. He has been identified as Chunli Zhao,67, a resident of Half Moon Bay. Zhao is described as a disgruntled employee who worked at one of the farms.
The victims were all believed to be farmworkers as well, authorities say.
Police say the semi-automatic rifle used in the shootings was found in Zhao’s vehicle at the time of his arrest. It is not clear whether he obtained the gun legally.
Monday’s incident was California’s second mass shooting in three days. A gunman killed 11 people at a Lunar New Year celebration Saturday night in Monterey Park.
