Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R–Ill.) one of Donald Trump’s most vocal critics in the Republican Party on Sunday compared the party to the Titanic as top leaders plan to oust Liz Cheney (R–Wis.) from her leadership role for telling the truth about Trump and the election.
Kinzinger said on ‘Face the Nation’ Sunday that the GOP is “in the middle of this slow sink.”
“Right now, it’s basically the Titanic. We’re like, you know, in the middle of this slow sink. We have a band playing on the deck telling everybody it’s fine. And meanwhile, as I’ve said, you know, Donald Trump’s running around trying to find women’s clothing and get on the first lifeboat,” Kinzinger said.
“And I think there’s a few of us that are just saying, ‘Guys, this is not good,’ not just for the future of the party, but this is not good for the future of this country,” he added.
Kinzinger is one of 10 House Republicans that voted to impeach Donald Trump in January for inviting an insurrection and he has thrown his support behind Cheney as leaders in the party push to have her replace.
