Alex Padilla responds to JD Vance calling him “José”.

Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) dismissed JD Vance referring to him using the wrong name as “petty and unserious.”

During a press conference in Los Angeles the vice president referred to Padilla as “José Padilla” while defending the Trump administration’s decision to deploy the national guard and marines to the city in response to protests sparked by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.

“I was hoping José Padilla would be here to ask a question, but unfortunately, I guess he decided not to show up because there wasn’t the theater,” Vance said.

The California lawmaker made news last week after he was forcibly removed from a press conference hosted by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem after trying to ask her a question.

In an interview on MSNBC Saturday Padilla said Vance’s comments highlights how “petty and unserious” the Trump administration is.
