‘America’s dumbest senator’ announces run for governor of Alabama.

Tuberville admits he went to courthouse to 'overcome' Trump gag order.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville who was once dubbed ‘America’s dumbest Senator’ by his home state newspaper, announced Tuesday that he is leaving Congress to run for governor of Alabama.

“Coach Tommy Tuberville is running for governor!” Tuberville’s new campaign website coachforgovernor.com reads.

His agenda includes fighting “woke ideology,” and keeping Alabama pro-life.

Tuberville confirmed his gubernatorial run during an interview on Fox News’ Will Cain Show Tuesday afternoon speaking from Byron’s Smokehouse in Auburn, where he was joined by family members and supporters.

“A few years ago, I decided to give back to this great country and fight,” he said. “President Trump was a guy that was really behind me in doing the Senate race. He’s been behind me ever since. And today, I will announce that I will be the future governor of the great state of Alabama.”

Tuberville was first elected to the Senate in 2020. During that short time span he has courted controversy with his actions ranging from his unpopular and damaging 10-month blockade of military promotions to refusing to denounce white supremacy.

The Alabama senator has also botched several historical facts including saying that World War II was fought “to free Europe of socialism” and misidentified the three branches of government saying they were “the House, the Senate, and the executive.”

If he wins, Tuberville will succeed term-limited Governor Kay Ivey (R).
