An Oregon doctor medical license was suspended for refusing to wear a mask and encouraging others to do the same at a Trump rally.

The Oregon Medical Board voted on Thursday to suspend the medical license of Dr. Steven LaTulippe after he admitted to not wearing a mask while practicing, at a pro-Trump event last month.

At the event, Dr. LaTulippe said he’s exposing “COVID mania” then declared that the COVID virus is no more because it has “mutated”.

LaTulippe said he never shut down his medical practice “not once” during the entire COVID season and “I and my staff, none of us, not once, wore a mask in my clinic,” he said as the crowd applauded.

He claimed that the American people were “duped” and measures put in place to mitigate the spread of the virus are a “threat to your freedom and the Constitution. I petition all of you to take off the mask of shame. It is a mask that is just designed to control you.”

On Thursday the Oregon Medical Board voted to suspend his license “due to the Board’s concern for the safety and welfare of Licensee’s current and future patients.”

The suspension prevents LaTulippe from practicing medicine anywhere in the state, according to KGW8 News. His family practice clinic called South View Medical Arts in Dallas, Oregon has been closed since the suspension.

Despite his public comments railing against mask use, Dr. LaTulippe told NBC news that he requires patients who are suspected of having COVID to wear a mask and treats them after other patients have left for the day, and in a back room that is disinfected before and after use.
