Appeals court temporarily blocks National Archives from turning over documents to Jan. 6 committee.

New York to redraw congressional map after court ruling.

A Federal appeals court temporarily blocked the House Committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot from obtaining Trump White House records.

In a brief unsigned order, a three-judge panel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia granted Trump “an administrative injunction” and set arguments for the case on Nov. 30, NBC News reports.

“The purpose of this administrative injunction is to protect the court’s jurisdiction to address appellant’s claims of executive privilege and should not be construed in any way as a ruling on the merits,” the judges wrote on Thursday.

The injunction comes as members of Trump’s legal team tried to fight the Friday deadline to hand over scores of memos, e-mails, records of White House conversations and visits to the Jan. 6 committee.

Judge Tanya Chutkan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia denied a request from Trump’s team for a temporary stay. Chutkan ruled hat Trump, as former president has no authority to exert executive privilege over the requested documents from the National Archives.
