A trucker convoy is heading to the southern border next week on a so-called “biblical” mission to save the country.

Organizers of the “Take Our Border Back” convoy call themselves “God’s army” and said they’re on a mission to stand up against the “globalists” who are conspiring to destroy the country by keeping the U.S-Mexico border open, Vice News reports.

“This is a biblical, monumental moment that’s been put together by God,” a convoy organizer said on a recent planning call.

According to Vice, another member on the call said, “We are besieged on all sides by dark forces of evil.”

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God. It is time for the remnant to rise,” another said.

The convoy will reportedly leave from Virginia Beach on Monday and stop in Jacksonville, Fla., before make several stops along the southern border. After those stops, they will split up on Feb. 3 for rallies in Eagle Pass, Texas, Yuma, Ariz., and San Ysidro, Calif., according to Vice.

The group’s cause has been getting more attention in light of the Supreme Court ruling allowing federal authorities to remove razor wires along some parts of the border and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) decision to defy the high court’s ruling.

Just this week, organizers raised more than $30,000 on GiveSendGo. “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes,” one donor wrote.

University of Connecticut sociology professor Ruth Braunstein told Vice that the group’s religious beliefs can promote radical behavior.

“When people believe that they are working on behalf of God, they might be willing to resort to relatively extreme measures,” Braunstein said. ”And so you have a politically volatile situation that could become much more so, in part because of this rhetoric.”
