Assistant DA in Oklahoma arrested for child pornography.

Kevin Etherington, 58, an assistant district attorney in Oklahoma was arrested on Monday on Child Pornography charges.

According to The Oklahoman, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children forwarded numerous cybertips to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation’s (OSBI) Internet Crimes Against Children unit on Sept. 1. Further investigation identified Etherington as a possible suspect.

OSBI agents arrested Etherington on Monday after agents executed a search warrant at his residence. He has been booked on one count of Aggravated Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.

Etherington served as the first assistant district attorney of Payne and Logan counties for eight years.

After his arrest, District Attorney Laura Austin Thomas announced he was fired.

“I cannot express how dismayed and disappointed I am about this development,” Thomas said. “I personally find the manufacture, distribution and possession of child pornography to be both disgusting and incredibly damaging to individual victims and society. While the accused stands innocent of the alleged crime until proven guilty, my review of the investigation has resulted in this person’s dismissal from employment by my office,” she added.
