President Joe Biden’s campaign mocked Donald Trump’s cash flow problems on Thursday, calling the former president ‘Broke Don.’
“Not a Winning Campaign: Broke Don Hides in Basement. Trump can’t raise money, isn’t campaigning, and is letting convicts and conspiracy theorists run his campaign,” the Biden campaign wrote in a press release.
“Donald Trump’s ‘New’ Latino Ad Has a Catch … It’s from His Last Campaign,” the Biden campaign said in a second release.
“Trump’s ‘new’ ad targeting Latinos is the same one that he posted in 2020,” the campaign wrote. “Maybe he can’t afford a new one?”
The Biden campaign also questioned whether is a “winning formula” to be “trailing your opponent in cash on hand by nearly 4 to 1 and hitting up donors to help cover your own personal debts instead of funding your campaign.”
Trump is facing massive legal penalties which includes more than $500 million in penalties after he was found liable for fraud, sexual abuse and defamation. He also faces 91 criminal charges across four indictments.
The Trump campaign operation raised about $11 million in February, ending the month with $42 million in cash on hand. Meanwhile, Biden’s campaign raised $53 million that month and ended February with $155 million in the bank.
“We are two weeks into the general election and Donald Trump can’t raise money, is hiding at his country club, and is letting convicts and conspiracy theorists take over his campaign. That is not a winning strategy,” Biden spokesperson Ammar Moussa said in a statement.
