President Joe Biden went out for breakfast with his family on Monday and accidentally ended up on the set of the popular action series Reacher.
The encounter took place outside Parc restaurant at Rittenhouse Square where Biden, his wife, Jill Biden, and son Hunter were heading to breakfast when they accidentally crossed onto a street where the crew of Reacher was filming a police chase.
The Bidens quickly made their way into the restaurant but emerged over an hour later to cheers. They waved to the crowd, shook hands with the actors and crew members, and posed for some selfies with residents walking their dogs.
“I thought it was the end of the scene — that they were wrapping for the day,” local photographer Hugh E. Dillon told CBS Philadelphia. “And no, it was, you know, Joe Biden decided he needed some breakfast at Parc Rittenhouse.”
Dillon said he was watching the television crew film the scene when suddenly black SUVs pulled up.
“Out walked these men, that I thought they were actors, but then the entire cast and crew started clapping and cheering,” he said. “Then someone said, ‘We love you, Joe, we love you!’”
Reacher star Alan Ritchson shared photos of his meeting with the Bidens on Instagram Tuesday.
“So our Reacher set got in the way of these legends,” he wrote. “Was a privilege and honor to meet the Biden family. They couldn’t have been more lovely. Kind, joyful, gracious and present.”
“We chatted briefly about simple stuff, like string theory and quantum entanglement. Then Joe beat me at arm wrestling. All in a day’s work,” he added.
