Sixty-three percent of Americans approve of President Joe Biden’s job performance so far, according to an Associated Press-NORC poll released Monday.
According to the poll, 96 percent of Democrats, 62 percent of independents and 23 percent of Republicans surveyed approve of the job Biden is doing as president.
Biden also received strong support for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, health care, foreign policy and the economy, according to the poll.
On the pandemic, 71 percent of Americans approve including 47 percent of Republicans.
57 percent approve of Biden’s handling of the economy, while 42 percent disapprove. 62 percent approve of Biden’s work on health care so far. And 54 percent of Americans approve of Biden’s handling of foreign policy.
Biden’s approval rating is under water for his handling of immigration and gun policy.
On immigration, 43 percent approve while 54 percent disapprove. On gun policy, 48 percent approve and 49 percent disapprove.
Overall, 54 percent of those surveyed said the country is going in the right direction, the highest since 2017; 44 percent think the country is heading in the wrong direction.
The nationwide poll was conducted April 29-May 3, 2021 among 1,842 adults. It has a The margin of error of +/- 3.2 percentage points.
