President Joe Biden said Vice-President Kamala Harris made a “great” choice by selecting Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate.
Biden, who stepped aside as the Democratic nominee thus paving the way for Harris to rise to the top of the ticket, said in a statement on X that “Harris has made a great decision in choosing Governor Tim Walz to be her running mate.”
“The Harris-Walz ticket will be a powerful voice for working people and America’s great middle class,” he added. “They will be the strongest defenders of our personal freedoms and our democracy. And they will ensure that America continues to lead the world and play its role as the indispensable nation.”
Other leading Democrats similarly praised Harris for the decision.
Democrats who were also being considered as potential running mates for Harris also praised her selection of Walz.
