President Joe Biden blasted the Republican governors of Texas and Florida on Thursday for “playing politics with human beings” by bussing migrants from the southern border to places considered to be liberal cities and communities in the North.
“Republicans are playing politics with human beings, using them as props. What they’re doing is simply wrong, it’s un-American, it’s reckless,” Biden said during his speech at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute gala, according to Newsweek.
“And we have a process in place to manage migrants at the border. We’re working to make sure it’s safe and orderly and humane,” Biden continued. “Republican officials should not interfere with that process by waging these political stunts.”
The White House also criticized the governors’ move calling it, “disrespectful to humanity.”
“It doesn’t afford them any dignity, what they’re doing, when you’re abandoning families and children in a place where they were told they were going to get housing, in a place where they were told they were going to get jobs. It is just cruel,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.
On Wednesday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent two planes loaded with migrants to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachsussetts, while Abbott sent two buses of migrants to Vice President Harris’s residence in Washington.
