Biden slams House impeachment inquiry: “Baseless political stunt.”

Biden praises Harris’ decision to select Tim Walz as her running mate.

President Joe Biden blasts House Republicans impeachment inquiry Wednesday calling it a “baseless political stunt.”

The House voted along party lines, 221-212, to formalize an impeachment inquiry into President Biden looking into whether he improperly benefited or was influenced by his son Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings while serving as vice-president.

Republicans have not presented any evidence that rises to the level of a high crime and misdemeanor to justify trying to remove Biden from office.

“Instead of doing anything to help make Americans’ lives better, they are focused on attacking me with lies. Instead of doing their job on the urgent work that needs to be done, they are choosing to waste time on this baseless political stunt that even Republicans in Congress admit is not supported by facts,” Biden said in a statement.

“The American people deserve better. I know what I am going to remain focused on,” Biden added. “I would invite Republicans in Congress to join me.”

The president also criticized House Republicans for leaving Washington, DC, before making progress on several issues including aid to Ukraine and Israel.

“There is a lot of work to be done,” Biden said.”But after wasting weeks trying to find a new Speaker of the House and having to expel their own members, Republicans in Congress are leaving for a month without doing anything to address these pressing challenges.”
