Bloodbath' begins at the RNC as Trump's team fires dozens days after taking over.

Less than a week after the Donald Trump backed team of Michael Whatley and daughter-in-law Lara Trump were elected as chair and co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), respectively, dozens of staffers are being put out of a job.

Sources close to the Trump campaign and the RNC told Politico that the expectation is that 60 staffers—including five members of senior staff— will be let go.

In a letter to some staffers, the RNC’s new chief operating officer Sean Cairncross said the committee is “in the process of evaluating the organization and staff to ensure the building is aligned” with its vision.

“During this process, certain staff are being asked to resign and reapply for a position on the team,” he added.

Lara Trump has previously said “every penny” raised by the RNC will be spent on re-electing Trump.

“Every single penny will go to the number one and the only job of the RNC,” she said last month. “That is electing Donald J. Trump as president of the United States and saving this country. We have no time to waste. We’ve got to get to work. We’ve got a lot of money to raise and we need to ensure that every penny goes to those things that I just mentioned.”
