Boulder shooting survivor: "I nearly got killed for getting a soda and a bag of chips."

Ryan Borowski, a survivor of the King Soopers supermarket mass shooting in Boulder, Colorado on Monday told CNN that he was at the store to buy a soda and bag of chips when he heard several loud bangs inside the store and began to run.

“We just all ran to the back of the store and out the back door and employees showed us the way,” Borowski said in an emotional interview. “And we told the employees what was going on. So, everybody helped each other and we just ran to safety as quickly as we could.”

He said he never thought this would happen in a town like Boulder.

“Boulder feels like a bubble. And the bubble burst. And that’s heartbreaking to think that people died today,” he said. “It does not feel like there’s anywhere safe anymore sometimes. This feels like the safest spot in America, and I nearly got killed for getting a soda and a bag of chips. Does not feel good.”
