Bragg slams House Republicans request for testimony and documents relating to Trump probe.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg slammed House Republicans’ efforts to get him to testify about his ongoing investigation into Donald Trump’s alleged hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Earlier this week, Republican Reps. Jim Jordan, James Comer, and Bryan Steil; chairmen of the House Judiciary, Oversight, and Administration committees, respectively, sent a letter to Bragg demanding testimony and documents related to the investigation and potential indictment of Trump.

In his response on Thursday Bragg called the requests “an unlawful incursion into New York’s sovereignty.”

“It is clear that Congress cannot have any legitimate legislative task relating to the oversight of local prosecutors enforcing state law,” Bragg added.

The DA called the move “unprecedent[ed]” and noted that their request only came “after Donald Trump created a false expectation that he would be arrested the next day and his lawyers reportedly urged you to intervene.”

“Neither fact is a legitimate basis for congressional inquiry,” Bragg added.
