The California Republican party was unable to find any evidence of actual voter fraud so they are going to create it. According to media reports, the California GOP is setting up unofficial ballot drop boxes across the state to collect mail-in ballots.
So far, there have been reports of unofficial boxes in Los Angeles, Fresno and Orange counties.
California Secretary of State, Alex Padilla told The Orange County Register that: “Operating unofficial ballot drop boxes—especially those misrepresented as official drop boxes—is not just misleading to voters, it’s a violation of state law.”
But the Republicans are defending their actions. They argued that the practice is legal. “This procedure has been in place since 2016 – not sure why people are all of a sudden surprised,” the California GOP wrote on Twitter.
This comes as Donald Trump continues to attack mail-in voting. Over the weekend during a rally at the White House, Trump once again claimed, without factual evidence that the process could be open to fraud.
