MAGA commentator Candace Owens has turned on Donald Trump.
In an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored Tuesday, Owens said she felt “embarrassed” that she campaigned for Trump during the 2024 election cycle after his decision to bomb Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend.
“He’s been a chronic disappointment. And I feel embarrassed that I told people to go vote for him because this wasn’t going to happen, and it is happening,” she said.
“I don’t know where to go from here, I really don’t. But this is not the candidate that I voted for,” she added.
Owens was once a staunch Trump supporter but has broken with the president over his decision to authorize airstrikes in Iran targeting the country’s nuclear sites and thrusting the US into another Middle East conflict.
Owens told Morgan that there was no “imminent threat” to the United States and Trump was doing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bidding.
“This was not Trump’s decision; it was Bibi Netanyahu’s decision,” Owens said. “And that is the reason that he did it. We’re very aware that Israel is dictating our foreign policy, and we’d now like that to stop.”
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and others in the US intelligence community have said Iran was nowhere near obtaining nuclear weapon capability.
Trump dismissed their findings last week telling reporters, “I don’t care what [Gabbard] said. I think they were very close to having one.”
