Capitol rioter asks SCOTUS to save her from rodent-infested prison.

Republican-appointed judge slams GOP efforts to "rewrite history" regarding Jan. 6

A Pennsylvania woman serving time behind bars for her role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot is asking the Supreme Court to save her from the rodent-infested prison, Newsweek reports.

Sandra Weyer, 60 was convicted on felony and misdemeanor charges related to her conduct during the riot and sentenced to 14 months in prison in September.

On New Year’s eve, just 45 days into her sentence, Weyer filed a motion to the Supreme Court requesting early release in part due to “distressing” living conditions at the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia.

“The section of the facility to which she has been assigned is experiencing a rodent infestation,” the motion reads, according to Newsweek. “Regularly, Weyer finds mice and insects in her bedding. Maggots and weevils are a common sight in the food hall.”

Last month, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a case that will determine whether the felony charge for ‘obstruction of an official proceeding’, which former President Donald Trump and several rioters including Weyer face, can be applied to Jan. 6.

More than 1,200 individuals have been charged in connection with the riot at the U.S. Capitol so far and 719 have pleaded guilty. More than 300 defendants have been charged with obstructing an official proceeding.
