Jacob Chansley, aka the ‘QAnon Shaman’, one of the most recognizable faces from the attack at the US Capitol on Jan. 6, is running for Congress.
Chansley has filed paperwork to run as a libertarian in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District in the 2024 general election, according to Arizona Republic.
Rep. Debbie Lesko, a Republican who currently holds the seat in Congress recently announced she is not seeking reelection in 2024.
Chansley was one of the most recognizable figures among the mob of Trump supporters on Jan. 6 with his horned fur hat, bare chest and face paint. He was sentenced to 41 months prison in November 2021 after he pleaded guilty to a federal charge of obstruction of an official proceeding.
As a convicted felon, Chansley cannot vote for himself but the U.S. Constitution does not prohibit felons from holding federal office.
