Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C) says “blackmail won’t win” after a new video was leaked on Wednesday show him simulating sex acts while in bed naked with a fried.
“A new hit against me just dropped. Years ago, in this video, I was being crass with a friend, trying to be funny. We were acting foolish, and joking. That’s it. I’m NOT backing down,” Cawthorn said. “I told you there would be a drip drip campaign. Blackmail won’t win. We will.”
The clip shows what appears to be Cawthorn naked in a bed thrusting his penis near the head of an unidentified person. A male voice can be heard laughing and saying, “stick it in his face.”
The video was reportedly released by American Muckrakers PAC, a political group that runs the Fire Madison Cawthorn website.
David B. Wheeler, president of American Muckrakers PAC, said in a statement that the video was “passed to us by a former supporter” of Cawthorn. Wheeler didn’t name the former supporter, WRAL reports.
