Cheney fires back at Trump: “You can’t change the truth and you cannot silence us.”

Trump was indicted in August on four charges related to his attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, including conspiracy to defraud the U.S., conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction, and conspiracy against the right to vote and to have one’s vote counted. He has pleaded not guilty.

Former Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) slammed Donald Trump after the president-elect criticized President Joe Biden for awarding Cheney and Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) the Presidential Citizens Medal this week.

“Donald, this is not the Soviet Union. You can’t change the truth and you cannot silence us,” Cheney wrote in a social media post.

Cheney and Thompson led the House select committee’s investigation into the Jan. 6 2021 attack on the Capitol and was recognized by the White House for their work this week.

Cheney’s remarks comes after Trump criticized Biden on Truth Social for handing out what he calls “fake medals” to Cheney because “she hated ‘TRUMP.’”

The president-elect also repeated false claims about Cheney and the House Jan. 6 committee “destroyed and deleted all evidence” from its investigation into the attack.

In her statement, Cheney reminded Trump of the lies he told about the 2020 presidential election and of how he incited his supporters to storm the US Capitol.

“Remember how you sent a mob to our Capitol and then watched the violence on television and refused for hours to instruct the mob to leave? Remember how your former Vice President prevented you from overturning our Republic?” Cheney wrote.

“We remember,” she continued. “And now, as you take office again, the American people need to reject your latest malicious falsehoods and stand as the guardrails of our Constitutional Republic — to protect the America we love from you.”

Here is my response to Donald Trump’s latest malicious lies:
