The student reporter who interviewed President Barack Obama at the White House in 2009 has died, his family said.
Damon Weaver made history when he scored an interview with the President of the United States at just 11-years-old. Weaver asked the president questions that focused on education, school lunches, bullying and conflict resolution.
He also interviewed then Vice-President Joe Biden and later, stars like Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Wade.
His sister, Candace Hardy told the Palm Beach Post that he died of natural causes on May 1. He had been studying communications at Albany State University in Georgia at the time of his death. He hoped to pursue a career covering sports upon graduating from college, his sister said.
“He was just a nice person, genuine, very intelligent,” Hardy said. “Very outspoken, outgoing. He never said no to anybody.”
Weaver was 23-years-old.
