Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie was booed at a conservative conference on Friday after criticizing his rival Donald Trump.
“I’m running because [Trump] let us down. He has let us down because he’s unwilling to take responsibility for any of the mistakes that were made,” Christie said during his speech at the the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference in Washington, D.C.
Christie’s criticism of the former president did not go over well with the audience as the crowd started shouting and booing him.
“You can boo all you want,” Christie responded.
“Our faith teaches us that people have to take responsibility for what they do. People have to stand up and take accountability for what they do, and I cannot stand by,” he added.
Christie announced his presidential bid earlier this month and has been one of the few candidates in the GOP primary field that consistently criticize Trump. However, he has failed to gain any traction in the growing field. The FiveThirtyEight average of polls has Christie in 7th with just 2%.
