Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, the suspect accused of murdering five people in a LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado last month has been formally charged with murder and hate crimes on Tuesday.
Police say, Aldrich entered Club Q, a LGBTQ nightclub minutes before midnight on Nov. 19 and began shooting, he murdered five people and injured several others before he was subdued by patrons.
He was charged with 305 criminal counts, including first-degree murder, bias-motivated crimes and attempted murder.
Aldrich faces 10 counts of first-degree murder, 86 counts of attempted first-degree murder, 48 counts of bias-motivated crimes and 90 counts of assault, according to the Denver Post.
District Attorney Michael Allen said the murder charges would carry a possible sentence of life in prison.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 22 February 2023.
Aldrich, who identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, according to his lawyers, will remains in jail without bond.
