CNN host mocks Trump’s ‘ridiculous’ claim that he’s willing to go to jail over gag order.

Trump was 'very much involved' in selecting the jury that convicted him, lawyer says.

CNN host Kaitlan Collins is not buying Donald Trump’s argument that he is willing to go to jail for violating the gag order in his criminal hush money case.

On Monday, Judge Juan Merchan ruled that Trump violated the gag order in the case and fined him $1000. Judge Merchan says the last thing he’d want to do is put Trump in jail but if he continues to violate the gag order he will be left with no choice.

Trump later told reporters that he’d be willing to go to jail for violating the gag order.

“I have to watch every word I tell you people… because this judge has given me a gag order and said, ‘You’ll go to jail if you violate it,’” Trump said. “And frankly, you know what? Our Constitution is much more important than jail. It’s not even close. I’ll do that sacrifice any day.”

But, Collins said the idea that Trump actually wants to go prison is “ridiculous.”

“Anyone who knows him knows that he doesn’t even like to stay in a hotel when he goes on foreign trips, when he wouldn’t as president,” Collins said in a clip highlighted by Mediaite. “It was a whole thing to actually get him to stay overnight in places.”

Collins noted that even as Trump rages against the gag order he is actually being careful.

Trump is on trial in New York where he faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records tied to hush money paid to adult-film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign to cover-up his alleged extramarital affair.

Prosecutor argue it was part of a conspiracy to influence the 2016 presidential election.
