Comer says there's "overwhelming evidence" to show Biden was involved in his son's "shady business schemes"

Chairman of the House Oversight Committee James Comer (R-KY) insists that there is “overwhelming evidence” to show President Joe Biden profited off his son Hunter business dealings overseas and was improperly influenced by them while serving as vice-president.

Comer made the comments on Fox News hours after his committee wrapped up their first impeachment inquiry hearing Thursday. The hearing did not go as Comer and House Republicans had hoped as even their own witnesses admitted they do not have the evidence to impeach Biden or show his alleged corruption.

“There’s overwhelming evidence that Joe Biden was involved in all of these shady business schemes,” Comer told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “That’s a problem. That’s a threat to our national security.”

Comer says his committee has evidence of “bank wires that show the Bidens took $20 million from foreign nationals in at least five different countries.”

“We also have evidence that they started 20 shell companies,” Comer added. “They used these shell companies to receive the wires from the foreign nationals.”

On Thursday Comer announced that he issued a subpoena for Hunter and James Biden’s personal bank accounts.

Despite Comer’s insistence that there is enough evidence to impeach Biden for allegedly profiting off his son’s business dealings, at least two of their witnesses at Thursday’s hearing says that is not the case.

“I have previously stated that, while I believe that an impeachment inquiry is warranted, I do not believe that the evidence currently meets the standard of a high crime and misdemeanor needed for an article of impeachment,” Jonathan Turley, a George Washington University Law School professor, said.

Forensic accountant Bruce Dubinsky, also said there wasn’t enough evidence yet for him to conclude that there was “corruption” by the Bidens.
