Cook Political Report moves three battleground states towards Kamala Harris.

Donald Trump is no longer the favorite to win in three crucial battleground states, according a new analysis.

The analysis by nonpartisan election handicapper Cook Political Report, changed the race characterization in Arizona, Nevada and Georgia to ‘Toss Up, from ‘Lean Republican’ just a month ago.

The shift comes weeks after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed Harris. She has since become the presumptive Democratic nominee for president after securing a majority of pledged delegates.

Polling shows Harris cutting into Trump’s lead since becoming the official Democratic presidential nominee and erasing the former president’s lead in the crucial swing states. This is due to increased Democratic enthusiasm and Harris’ appeal to younger and nonwhite voters.

“Three weeks ago, Donald Trump was leading President Joe Biden in the Cook Political Report national vote tracker by about 2.5%. Today, Kamala Harris leads Trump by less than one point,” Amy Walter, the editor-in-chief of Cook Political Report said.

Though Harris clearly has the momentum, Walter pointed out that the race still remains close.

“Things look a lot better for Democrats today than they did a few weeks ago, but Trump is looking stronger now than he did in 2020. This is a toss up,” Walter said.
