Capitol rioter asks court for permission to attend a “retreat” in Mexico.

Court gave Capitol rioter permission to travel to Mexico for a "bonding retreat"

A woman accused of storming the Capitol on Jan. 6 has asked the court for permission to travel to Mexico later this month for a retreat.

On Monday, attorneys for rioter Jenny Louise Cudd filed a motion asking the court for permission to travel to Maya Riviera, Mexico for a prepaid “work-related bonding retreat” from February 18 to 21. Her lawyers argued that she has no criminal history and has remained in contact with her attorney and pretrial service officer.

Cudd is currently on pretrial release after being charged with two misdemeanor offenses, including entering a federal building without permission and engaging in disorderly conduct.

Cudd confirmed she was a member of the pro-Trump mob that stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6. In a video on Facebook she said, “I was here today on Jan. 6th when the new revolution started at the Capitol.”

On Jan. 8th she gave a television interview in which she stated “we the Patriots did storm the U.S. Capitol” and “yes, I would absolutely do it again,” according to in The Hill.

Correction: A federal magistrate did not grant permission for Jenny Cudd to attend the retreat, as was reported in an earlier version of this story.
