Elon Musk says he declined Davos invitation but organizers say he was not invited.

Davos organizers say Elon Musk was not invited to this year's forum despite what he says.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) said billionaire Elon Musk was not invited to this year’s meeting in Davos, Switzerland after he claimed on Twitter that he turned down the invitation.

Musk wrote in a tweet in December, “I was invited to WEF, but declined.”

“My reason for declining the Davos invitation was not because I thought they were engaged in diabolical scheming, but because it sounded boring af lol,” he explained in another tweet a week later.

But WEF spokesperson Yann Zopf told the Associated Press that the last time the Tesla CEO got an invite was “not this year and not recently — last time in 2015.” Musk never registered or attended the conference when he was invited, Zopf said.

Musk didn’t specify if he was referring to this year’s meeting, but the tweets coming a month before the conference suggest he was.

CEOs, world leaders, and other influential figures will gather in Davos this week to discuss global issues including war and climate change.
