The death toll from the 12-story condo building partial collapsed in Surfside, Florida has risen to nine and dozens are still missing.
One of the injured residents died in the hospital and additional remains were found among the wreckage, bringing the death toll up to nine, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said, according to NBC News.
Miami-Dade Police Department released the names of four deceased victims on Saturday. The first vocim was identified on Friday by the county’s medical examiner’s office as Stacie Fang, 54. The other three victims were, Antonio Lozano, 83; Gladys Lozano, 79; and Manuel LaFont, 54.
The bodies of Fang and Antonio Lozano were recovered on Thursday. Gladys Lozano and LaFont were recovered on Friday, according to police.
More than 150 people are unaccounted for in the collapse.
“We are not stopping until we pull every resident out of that rubble…we have two objectives now,” Surfside Mayor Charles Burkett said. “That is to support the family and to stay focused, to keep those rescue crews on that pile of debris bringing out residents. We have waves and waves of rescue teams that are ready to step up.”
