Democrat Sen. Mark Kelly defeats Blake Masters in Arizona

Sen. Mark Kelly (D) is projected to defeat his Republican challenger Blake Masters in the crucial battleground state of Arizona.

Kelly was completing the final two years of the late Sen. John McCain’s term and his re-election means he will get to serve a full six year term.

Kelly’s victory is a hold for Senate Democrats who now look to Nevada, where incumbent Sen. Catherine Cortez-Masto is trailing Republican Adam Laxalt by less than 800 votes.

If Masto wins in Nevada Democrats will turn their attention towards Georgia’s Dec. 6 runoff between Sen Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker to potentially extend their senate majority.
