Democratic congressman says Tucker Carlson's viewers are calling his office to say America should side with Russia.

A Democratic congressman said on Monday that Tucker Carlson’s viewers are calling his office to tell him that the U.S. should side with Russia amid rising tensions between that country and Ukraine.

Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-N.J.) a member of the House Foreign Affairs and Homeland Security committees wrote in a tweet on Monday: “My office is now getting calls from folks who say they watch Tucker Carlson and are upset that we’re not siding with Russia in its threats to invade Ukraine, and who want me to support Russia’s ‘reasonable’ positions.”

In recent weeks Russia has amassed at least 100,000 troops on the border with Ukraine leading President Joe Biden to promise swift and severe pushback from the United States if Russia invades the country. On Monday, the Pentagon placed 8,500 US troops on heightened alert for a possible deployment to Eastern Europe “so they are prepared to respond to a range of contingencies, including support to the NATO response force if it is activated,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said.

But, Fox News host Tucker Carlson believes that the tension between the United States and Russia is unnecessary and blamed Washington for the state of US-Russia relationship.

“We’re really going to fight a war over some corrupt Eastern European country that is strategically irrelevant to us? With everything else that’s going on right now in our own country?” Carlson asked in a Fox op-ed. “No normal person would ever want to do anything like that. How can it really happen?”
