Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) demanded in front of the entire Senate that Kentucky senator Rand Paul put on a mask in the chamber on Thursday.
When Paul made a request to keep a vote to just 10 minutes, Brown objected and demanded he wear a mask in the chamber.
“I would like to ask Senator Paul, in front of everybody, to start wearing a mask on the Senate floor like the entire staff does all the time,” Sen. Brown said.
“I appreciate now the presiding officer wearing a mask. But I wish Sen. Paul would show respect to his colleagues to wear a mask when he’s on the Senate floor walking around and speaking,” Brown added
Brown ultimately backed Paul’s request to limit the time of the votes even though the Kentucky senator made no effort to put on a mask on the Senate floor as Brown asked.
President Biden has mandated masks be worn on all federal property, including the Capitol building.
