Dems lead generic congressional ballot by 1 point.

Democrats lead Republicans in the generic congressional ballot by 1 point weeks away from the midterm elections, according to a new poll.

The NBC News poll released on Sunday shows that 47 percent of Americans plan to vote for a Democrat in their congressional district, while 46 percent plan to support a Republican.

“We’ve got a record of progress, and we’re doing a lot better than people thought we would,” Rep. Sean Maloney (D-N.Y.), the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said on Sunday. “And we are in a very competitive election. We know it’s going to be a challenge.”

The NBC News poll was conducted from Oct. 14 to Oct. 18 among 1,000 registered voters. The poll has a margin of error of ± 3.1 percentage points.
