Denmark issues warning for residents traveling to the US.

Denmark has updated to its travel advisory to warn transgender citizens about traveling to the United States under the Trump administration.

New information added to Denmark’s Foreign Ministry’s website, states that when applying for a U.S. visa, there are only two gender options available, male or female.

“If your passport has the gender designation X or you have changed gender, it is recommended to contact the US embassy prior to travel for guidance on how to proceed,” the updated advisory reads.

The new advisory comes as the Trump administration is rolling back trans rights in the U.S.

One of the first executive orders Trump signed when he returned to the White House in January stated that the government would recognize only two sexes: male and female.

Finland issued a similar advisory last week to residents seeking a US visa.

“If the gender listed on the applicant’s passport does not match the gender assigned at birth, the US authorities may deny the application for a travel permit or visa,” Finland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. “Please check the entry requirements with the US authorities in advance.”
