The attorney for Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin filed an appeal for a new trial Tuesday after the cop was convicted last month of murdering George Floyd.
The request cited multiple grounds for a retrial, including juror misconduct and a failure of the court to sequester the jury.
The motion also alleges that the court abused its discretion by denying the requests for a change in venue and a new trial and that Chauvin’s ability to have a fair trial was affected by pretrial publicity, according to NBC News.
Chauvin was found guilty by a jury last month of second and thirddegree murder, as well as second-degree manslaughter.
