Eric Adams says Lori Lightfoot’s loss in Chicago is a ‘warning sign for the country’

NYC Mayor Eric Adams says lack of prayers lead to guns in schools and dismisses separation of church and state.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams told CNN on Sunday that Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s loss is a “warning sign for the country.”

Lightfoot lost her bid for another term last week, becoming the first incumbent mayor in 40 years to do so.

“I think it’s a warning sign for the country,” Adams said of Lightfoot’s loss. “I showed up at crime scenes. I knew what New Yorkers were saying. And I saw it all over the country. I think, if anything, it is really stating that this is what I have been talking about. America, we have to be safe.”

Lightfoot, who was elected in 2019, came under fire from voters for her handling of crime in Chicago. She lost her bid for re-election after failing to secure one of two runoff spots. Lightfoot finished third behind former public schools chief Paul Vallas and Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson.

Vallas and Johnson will face each other again in a runoff election scheduled for April 4.
