Donald Trump’s former valet says he should not be a candidate for president in 2024.
In an interview with CNN that aired on Monday Brian Butler, a witness in Trump’s classified documents case who is listed as “Trump employee 5” in the indictment, says the man whom he worked closely with for over two decades should not be a candidate for president.
“I personally would just say I just don’t believe that he should be a presidential candidate at this time. I think it’s time to move on,” Butler said when asked by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins if he views Trump as a national security risk.
“I think we can do better,” he added.
Butler also defended Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation of Trump’s mishandling of classified documents, saying the probe is “not a witch hunt.”
“I think the American people have the right to know the facts, that this is not a witch hunt,” Butler said during the interview.
“I don’t want to live in fear. I mean, we’re only here for a finite time. To me, I refuse to live in fear like that. I mean, yes, cautious. But, you know, I’m gonna tell the truth,” he added. “I mean, this is so much bigger than me….You know, this is a nation that needs to decide who’s gonna be the next president.”
