The father of Anderson Aldrich, the 22-year-old man accused of killing 5 people and injuring several others in a LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, said he was relieved to find out that his son is not gay.
Aaron Franklin Brink, 51, an ex-con, former MMA fighter and porn star, said he received a call on Sunday from an attorney notifying him that his son was under arrest for a massacre in a gay nightclub.
“They started telling me about the incident, a shooting involving multiple people. And then I go on to find out it’s a gay bar. I said, ‘God, is he gay?’ I got scared, ‘Shit, is he gay?’ And he’s not gay, so I said, ‘Phew ’”Brink told CBS 8.
“You know Mormons don’t do gay. We don’t do gay. There’s no gays in the Mormon church. We don’t do gay,” he added.
Brink was an MMA fighter before his son was born. He reportedly divorced Aldrich’s mother when he was very young then started acting in porn under the name Dick Delaware, according to the Denver Gazette. He appeared in such films as “White Boys Can Hump’’ “My MILF Boss 8’’ and “It’s OK to Put It in My Ass’’, according to his IMDB page.
Brink, a recovering crystal meth addict, also appeared on reality TV in Divorce Court and Intervention.
He told CBS 8 on Tuesday that he was not aware his son was still alive because Aldrich’s mother called him in 2016 and told him their son had changed his name and then committed suicide.
“I thought he was dead,” Brink said. “I mourned his loss. I had gone through a meltdown and thought I had lost my son. His mother told me he changed his name because I was in Intervention and I had been a porno actor.”
Court records filed on Tuesday showed that Aldrich changed his name from Nicholas Franklin Brink in 2016 to “protect himself + his future from his birth father + his criminal history. Father has had no contact with minor for several years.”
Brink told CBS 8 that he still loves his son and apologized to the families of the victims of the massacre.
“I’m sorry for your loss. Life is so fragile and it’s valuable. Those people’s lives were valuable. You know, they’re valuable. They’re good people, probably. It’s not something you kill somebody over. I’m sorry I let my son down,” he said.
