Fetterman slams Democrats on Fox News after Trump’s Iran attack: “Our party has been often wrong.”

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Penn.) criticized Democrats on Fox News Monday while praising Donald Trump’s attack on Iran.

“There’s going to be a lot of people in my party who are going to disagree with the strike in Iran,” Fetterman told Fox News Dana Perino, in a clip highlighted by Mediaite.

“I actually support that. I’ve always been calling for that thing,” he continued. “I think it was entirely appropriate. And again, there might be votes on that. So for me, that’s not a war. That was a very limited military exercise.”

Over the weekend, Trump announced on his Truth Social app that the US bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities thus putting United States squarely into an escalating Middle East conflict.

Fetterman immediately announced his support for the move in a post on X writing, “As I’ve long maintained, this was the correct move by POTUS. Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and cannot have nuclear capabilities. I’m grateful for and salute the finest military in the world.”

But, other Democrats and some Republicans called the move unconstitutional since Trump acted without approval from Congress.

“This is not Constitutional,” Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) wrote on X.

“While President Trump’s decision may prove just, it’s hard to conceive a rationale that’s Constitutional,” Trump loyalist Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) said on X.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said the move is “absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”

“The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,” she said on X. “He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations.”

In his Fox News appearance Fetterman argued that the Democratic Party is “often wrong” about the Middle East.

“Now, our party has been often wrong,” he said. “And they were pushing for a ceasefire last year. And now Israel pushed through that and has broken Hamas. And Hezbollah as well now, too. And now here it is right now, Israel has air supremacy over Iraq (sic) right now.”

“And now, here’s where …..Iran is right, right now their capabilities are severely limited,” he added. “And now that was an entirely appropriate to finally take out those nuclear facilities.”
