Fetterman slams Democrats over LA protests.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) aimed his anger at Democrats over ongoing anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles.

In a post on X, Fetterman slammed Democrats for what he calls a refusal to condemn violent acts.

“I unapologetically stand for free speech, peaceful demonstrations, and immigration—but this is not that,“ he wrote on X, along with a photograph of a protester waving a Mexican flag on top of a smoking car. ”This is anarchy and true chaos. My party loses the moral high ground when we refuse to condemn setting cars on fire, destroying buildings, and assaulting law enforcement.”

The protests so far have been largely peaceful and there have not been widespread reports of damage, NBC News reports.

Several California Democrats have been encouraging their constituents to peacefully protest.

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA.) urged restraint from protesters, warning on social media that “violence is never the answer” and that attacking law enforcement officers “plays directly into the hands of those who seek to antagonize and weaponize the situation for their own gain”.

“If you are protesting please do it peacefully,” Rep. Mike Thompson (D-Calif.) wrote on X. “We do not need to give this President and his administration any excuses to further escalate the situation.”

“Los Angeles: don’t take Trump’s bait. Trump wants chaos and he’s instigated violence,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a post on X. “Stay peaceful. Stay focused. Don’t give him the excuse he’s looking for.”

Fetterman’s comments comes after Trump ordered 2000 National Guardsmen to Los Angeles without the Newsom’s or Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’ consent. He also sent hundreds of active duty Marines to the American city.

On Monday, Trump even suggested that Newsom be arrested claiming his crime is running for governor.

No word from Fetterman yet on Trump’s inflammatory responses.
