The first presidential debate of the 2024 election cycle between President Joe Biden and Donald Trump is set for June 27 and will be hosted by CNN.
“I’ve received and accepted an invitation from @CNN for a debate on June 27th. Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place,” Biden posted on X.
Trump also accepted the offer, telling Fox Digital that he’s looking forward to being in Atlanta.
Biden challenged Trump to two debates hosted by broadcast organizations in June and September.
The campaign said the president would not participate in the traditional schedule and format established by the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates. The campaign said the commission’s debates starts after millions of voters have already casted early ballots and they failed to enforce the rule in the 2020 debates.
The campaign also laid out their terms for the debates, including no audience and only opening the microphone when it is the candidate’s turn to speak.
According to CNN, the June 27th debate will be held in the network’s Atlanta studios with no audience present. Moderators for the debate and additional details will be announced at a later date.
