Florida attorney general calls for Democratic lawmaker to be deported for criticizing Trump’s birthday parade.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier called for Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar (Minn.) to be deported for criticizing Donald Trump’s military parade in Washington, D.C last weekend.

In an interview with the outlet Democracy Now!, Omar said the United States is “turning into one of the worst countries on earth.”

The congresswoman said she grew up in a dictatorship in Somalia and doesn’t remember ever seeing a military parade like the one Trump organized to celebrate the Army’s 250th anniversary and his birthday. She also criticized Trump for deploying active duty Marines to Los Angeles to quell anti-ICE protest, a move state officials dismissed as unnecessary and illegal.

“To have a democracy, a beacon of hope for the world to now be turned into one of the worst countries where the military are in our streets without any regard for people’s constitutional rights,” Omar said. “While our president is spending millions of dollars propping himself up like a failed dictator with a military parade. It is really shocking,”

Uthmeier, a staunch ally, responded to a clip of the interview on Twitter, writing “Denaturalize and Deport.”

Omar came to the U.S. as a refugee in 1995 and became a naturalized citizen at 17 years old in 2000.
