Former Christian school president sentenced to 5 years in prison for child pornography.

The former president of Lubbock Christian School in Texas was sentenced to 5 1/2 years in federal prison for taking sexually explicit photos of a minor, according to a press release from the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Prerak Shah.

Larry Tye Rogers, 56 admitted that his wife caught him in October last year on his hands and knees holding his iPhone under the opening at the bottom of a bathroom door taking photos of a 15-year-old girl who was preparing to take a shower. He told his wife that he had taken numerous photos and videos of the child in the bathroom and later “admitted his intended focus was the child’s genitals and pubic area, and that the images were designed to elicit a sexual response” in him, according to the DOJ.

Rogers suggested that he resign as president of Lubbock Christian School after he was confronted by a colleague about the photos. An email sent to parents by the school said an investigation by Child Protective Services led to Rogers’ departure.

He pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in June and was initially placed on house arrest and restricted from unsupervised contact with children, according to KCBD news.

Rogers was sentenced on Thursday to five-and-a-half years in federal prison. He will also have to register as a sex offender.
