Former Newsmax host Eric Bolling accused Donald Trump’s advisors of lying to him as his campaign continues to struggle to figure out an effective line of attack against Kamala Harris.
In an interview with NewsNation, Bolling said that Trump’s advisors are just telling him what he needs to hear which is not always the truth.
“I think his advisors are doing him wrong. They’re telling him he’s winning and he’s not right now,” Bolling said in a clip of the interview shared by Mediaite. “Kamala Harris has bumped up in popularity, in money, in polling.”
“He’s got to bring back 2016 Donald Trump,” he continued. “But he’s running as 2020 Donald Trump because he has advisors who tell him everything he wants to hear and it’s a mistake.”
While Harris has been hitting the campaign trail since Tuesday in a multi-state battleground blitz, Trump has been holed up in Mar-a-Lago ranting on his Truth Social platform. He returned to the campaign trail on Friday with a rally in Montana, a red state.
Bolling called the decision by the Trump campaign to rally in Montana a “mistake.”
“He should be going from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania and then Michigan and just continue to hit those three states,” Bolling said.
A New York Times/Siena College poll released on Saturday shows Harris leading Trump by four points in each of the three major swing states, 50 percent to 46 percent.
