Former RNC chair tells Bragg to "stay his behind home" and not testify in front of Congress.

Michael Steele, the former chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) told Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to ignore Jim Jordan’s request for testimony about Donald Trump’s hush money trial before Congress.

Jordan sent a letter to Bragg last month requesting testimony about the trial where Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records to reimburse his former fixer Michael Cohen for hush money paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels in the final days of the 2016 campaign.

On Friday, Bragg indicated that he is open to appearing before the Jordan-led Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, which led to Steele telling him to “stay his behind home.”

“This brother needs to stay his behind home. He does not need to do this because all this is the biggest punking move of the year,” Steele said.

“If he shows up, those individuals on that committee are there for one purpose and that is to hang him politically,” he added. “That is what it is. The sound bites are just the beginning of it. Because remember, whether you do it now or after sentencing, there is an appeals process, this thing isn’t over, this is still going.”

Steele questioned why Bragg would want “legitimize” Republicans attempt to discredit his successful prosecution of Trump especially when Congress “has no authority here to call him up and ask him about his prosecution in a state matter.”
